Otara recently visited Rwanda. During the visit she was invited to speak at the Imbuto Foundation which is spearheaded by First Lady, Jeanette Kagame, where she had the opportunity to meet and speak with some of the leading young designers, retailers, entrepreneurs and environmentalists in Rwanda. Otara also got the chance to learn about the work carried out by the Foundation which is comprehensive and impressive in its own right; focusing on the education and welfare of children of all ages, improving health and more. In addition, Otara attended a meeting with the Rwanda Development Board to learn about the in-depth conservation work, tourism and development being carried out under the leadership of President Paul Kagame.
During her visit Otara also spent time learning about the country’s economy, culture, wildlife, sustainable development and conservation methods, and more. Other experiences included visits to the Nyungwe Forest to see the Chimpanzees, visiting the Akagera National Park and of course, the highlight of the trip was visiting the Gorillas at Volcanoes National Park, an experience Otara has waited almost 40 years for.
